"Sweelinck: the Orpheus of Amsterdam"

Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, the city organist of Amsterdam, is to date the most prominent Dutch composer.

His weekly improvisation at the Oude Kerk next to the port must have been heard by many sailors before

they set off to the East. His compositions will be presented on the harpsichord alongside works by the Dutch

lutenists from the golden age.
