''An Evening with Van Eyck''
Jacob van Eyck was the the city carillonneur of Utrecht and a recorder virtuoso. Born blind, he was also known
as a carillon technician, applying Marin Mersenne’s research to the acoustics of tuned bells. His two books
of Der Fluyten Lust-hof for solo recorder was immensely popular; the Janskerk in Utrecht even increased his
salary under the provision that he played the recorder to entertain the passers-by! This casual program of folk
tunes and dances will ensure a very enjoyable evening for the guests.
